It's finished! I can't believe it, but I sent it to the printer this morning. It should be out by the middle of November. Gospel Publishers has agreed to sell it for us, so I'll tell you when it's finished and you can talk to your book agent at church or order online from their site.

Five years ago we never could have done this project! But now with a WhatsApp chat and a free program called Canva, we pulled it off! The photos were the biggest challenge - let me tell you that the tutorials on Pinterest do not involve a kitchen with few fancy dishes and a cell phone camera. My friend Sallie helped me so much - a good share of the photos were taken on her deck, and most of the rest were done in front of my kitchen window. Our husbands put up with it because the food was good!

The Haitian recipes had to be carefully tested and discussed because we're not used to measuring our Haitian food. I think we can safely say they're all authentic - there was lots of consulting with Haitian family members, etc. Maybe it's not how every Haitian does it, but all the recipes are from a Haitian. Some of the produce was out of season and hard to get - let me tell you - it's a mess writing a cookbook with limited grocery funds and availability in the markets!

But we did it! If you want to see what's inside, look here:
